I had the idea to make vegan cinnamon roll dessert pizzas about a month ago, we are always making pizza dough for our pizza nights and there is usually some dough left and as I am obsessed with cinnamon bun flavoured things I imagined making a sticky cinnamon pizza drizzled with a sweet icing made with vegan cream cheese.
Yesterday was the day I decided to give it a go and they were delicious!! This is after baking before adding the cinnamon icing. You can keep some in a bowl next to you for dunking the crusts in!
They were a huge hit with the kids too who ate so much that poor Matt was only left with one slice!
I haven’t provided the recipe for the pizza dough because I don’t have my own, I used this one by Jamie Oliver but if you search on Pinterest of Google then you will find lots on there including some gluten free or flour variation recipes if you require 🙂 You could also use shop bought, ready made pizza dough.
I mention it in the recipe but I will just say it again here too, the sweetness of the cinnamon icing is completely down to taste, you can have it as sweet as you like, just keep tasting it until you get to the level of sweetness you like. You could also use maple syrup if you preferred. Same with the cinnamon, just adjust for your tastes!
Here is the recipe for these vegan cinnamon bun pizzas…
VEGAN CINNAMON BUN DESSERT PIZZA
- 4 Balls Pizza Dough Homemade or Shop Bought
- 2 tbsp Coconut Oil
- 3 tbsp Sugar
- 1.5 tsp Cinnamon
- 1 tub Vegan Cream Cheese I used Violife
- 1.5 tsp Cinnamon
- 3 tbsp Dairy Free Milk
- 8-10 tbsp Icing Sugar You can use more or less depending on your taste, keep tasting it to you get to your desired sweetness
Preheat the oven to 210 degrees.
Add the cinnamon topping ingredients to a bowl and mix well.
Add the cinnamon icing ingredients to a bowl and whisk together. You can add as much or as little icing sugar as you wish, it's all down to personal taste and how sweet you like it. Just keep trying until you get to a sweetness you like. You can also add as much or as little cinnamon as you like!
Roll out a pizza dough ball and cover the bottom in flour (to stop it sticking) before placing on a baking tray. Spread over the cinnamon topping, you don't want to add too much as the coconut oil will leak off so do it fairly thinly.
Place in the oven and bake for around 8-12 mins until it looks cooked.
Take out of the oven and drizzle the cinnamon icing over the top, you can add as much or as little as you like! Sprinkle with cinnamon.
Repeat for the rest of the dough balls.
