GOODFELLA’S VEGAN PIZZA REVIEW

by Jess

I heard that Goodfella’s were going to be releasing a vegan pizza a few months ago and to be perfectly honest my first thoughts were ‘falafel pizza, don’t they know that falafel isn’t the only food vegans eat?!‘ and ‘a pizza with NO CHEESE?!!‘.

Regardless of my thoughts though, there is no denying that a large company releasing a frozen vegan pizza is a great thing. So many people say that going vegan takes too much planning so the more easy options there are, the easier it is for people to make the switch. Like I always say, being vegan isn’t automatically connected to being healthy, so whether frozen pizza is a Friday night treat or an everyday treat, it’s good for there to be that option there for people who don’t want to eat animal products.

As I love reporting on new vegan products I happily agreed to taste test some samples of the Goodfella’s vegan pizza when they asked me, they arrived on Wednesday and as I hadn’t planned what to make for dinner I put one straight in the oven.

The pizza is definitely fully loaded like it says on the box and has a mixture of peppers, onions and crumbled up falafels with harissa and a houmous drizzle.

goodfella's vegan pizza taste testI was actually really pleasantly surprised at how nice it was, I mean I like falafel but wasn’t sure if it was something I would choose on pizza but it was really tasty and didn’t lack in flavour at all, something which is a concern with some vegan food.

Matt also really liked it and thought it was a great product to keep in the freezer for times when you can’t be bothered to cook.

I have to admit though that I did miss having cheese on pizza so added some to my half!! Matt didn’t as he’s not that bothered about cheese on pizza but for me, it’s a must but with the cheese added it was really good.

I would love to see Goodfella’s extending their vegan pizza range to include more traditional style pizzas but I do think they’ve done well with creating the first mainstream frozen pizza. There can never be too many vegan products on the market in my opinion!

Goodfella's vegan pizza falafel pizza I do believe it’s going to be available in Sainsbury’s from the week of the 12th of March followed by other supermarkets. And it’s only going to be £2.50 which is a good price, it’s annoying when you have to pay more for vegan products. I would definitely recommend giving it a go, as if you miss cheese then you can always add some like I did. You can see more about it here.

‘Thanks to Goodfella’s for sending us some samples, all words and opinions are my own’
