A few weeks ago we found some Linda McCartney’s vegetarian duck in the supermarket and as we both used to love Chinese crispy duck pancakes we bought a pack. I wasn’t entirely sure what I would think of it but yesterday I bought some Chinese pancakes so we could finally try it and we were both amazed, it’s absolutely delicious!!
It is so much better than the real thing, not just because it’s not a dead animal, but also because you get loads of it due to it being so much cheaper than the real thing. Plus there is also no fat or skin in it, yet it does still have all of the flavour and texture. It’s surprisingly realistic which I guess for some people might be off-putting, I know a lot of people don’t understand why veggies / vegans want something so similar to meat but a lot of people stopped eating meat because they didn’t want animals to die for it, not because they were against the actual taste / texture.
We had this in Chinese pancakes with hoisin sauce and cucumber and it was amazing, obviously not the healthiest dinner due to the sauce being high in sugar and salt and the vegetarian duck no doubt being high in salt but if you used to love Chinese takeaways or eating crispy duck Chinese pancakes then this is an amazing vegan alternative.
I think this would also be nice with a stir-fry instead of chicken or with rice, it’s a really great product and I would definitely recommend it. Matt absolutely loved it too.
You can find the full ingredients and read more about the vegetarian duck here but I would say this is one of my favourite vegan alternatives purely because it’s actually better than the real thing.
Have you tried it? What did you think?

Loved the taste and texture really delicious. Only one criticism some of the price were bigger and very hard in fact I could not cut them up with a knife, but it may have been the odd pack that slipped through.
