Ever since first going pumpkin picking, buying them in a shop just didn’t feel the same. Finding pumpkin patches in the UK isn’t the easiest thing though, usually you either have to make do with a smaller one or drive a bit further afield.
When we were living in Somerset we used to go to Bailey Ridge, near Sherborne, it wasn’t the biggest but the kids were only little back then so it was good enough. The last time we went it wasn’t very big though, just a little corner with the pumpkins laid out so we haven’t been back since. I’m not sure what it’s like now as we haven’t been for a few years so maybe research it before going just in-case. Here are a few photos from Bailey Ridge in 2014, the kids were so little!

After moving down to Dorset I heard about Sopley Farm which is where we’ve been for the last few years. It’s in Christchurch near Bournemouth. These photos were from 2016..

And some from last year..

I was really getting into my creative photography last autumn so we went with lots of props to enable me to create this in Photoshop. I had great fun doing it but I decided to priotise my crochet business in January so haven’t had any time for anything else, too many hobbies, not enough time!

Sopley Farm is great though, if you want somewhere large with lots of space for walking round and taking photos then I would definitely recommend it. It’s a bit of a mission for us, taking around 90 mins but I think it’s worth it, Matt might not agree though!
I think we are going to try somewhere new this year as I’ve heard good things about Schmooks Farm which is in Ilminster and therefore a bit closer to us. I will report on what it’s like when we’ve been.
And if you are looking for somewhere to go pumpkin picking near you then this post by Flip Flops Or Wellies is great.
